Aerial Hammock & Silks

We offer Aerial Yoga, aerial hammock, and aerial conditioning classes.

The Aerial Hammock is an apparatus used most commonly for Aerial Yoga, Aerial Sling & Aerial fitness classes. This apparatus is the made of the same material as the aerial silks, just tied differently to create a "loop". Classes using the aerial hammock can include warm ups, conditioning, stretching, tricks, inversions & restorative movements.

Aerial Yoga and Sling

Aerial Silks

Aerial Yoga - Instead of performing yoga poses on a mat, aerial yoga utilizes a silk hammock or sling that is suspended from the ceiling to perform those same movements. The purpose of the hammock is to provide support through your yoga flow, while also improving flexibility and range of motion.

Aerial Sling or Hammock is more cirque focused. You’ll spend more time off the ground and work on combinations of movement that will allow you to dance in the air.

Aerial Yoga/Sling Class Disclaimer
Anyone can attend an aerial class if they are mindful and respectful of their own conditions. We recommend those with the following conditions avoid aerial yoga: people who have/are very high or low blood pressure, easy onset vertigo, pregnancy, glaucoma, recent surgery, heart disease, osteoporosis, bone weakness, recent head injury, cerebral sclerosis, propensity for fainting, artificial hips, carpal tunnel syndrome, severe arthritis, sinusitis or head cold, recent stroke or botox injections (within 8 hours).

Silks (sometimes called tissue) hang in two long strands from a single point in the ceiling and students will learn how to climb, wrap, suspend, and more as they build core and upper body strength developing their skills. This apparatus is great for folks who enjoy puzzles and problem solving!

  • Aerial yoga uses a silk hammock as a tool to help you achieve and deepen traditional yoga positions. The weight of the body is either partially or fully supported by the hammock. You’ll move through a variety of yoga postures including inversions, hip openers, hamstring stretches, and restorative postures. The class will focus on mobility, strength-building, and decompression of the spine. Expect to have fun and get a good stretch from head to toe!

  • In our Intermediate Aerial Yoga class, we continue to use the silk hammock to move through a variety of yoga postures, that includes inversions, hip openers, hamstring stretches, and core strengtheners.
Using foundations from the previous level, this class also teaches flow sequences that infuses a bit of dance, as you transition from one pose to another.

We recommend having had 2-4 months of Aerial Yoga before trying this class.

  • This intermediate level class is focused on building overall conditioning with a particular focus on core strength in order to help you safely and correctly invert from both the ground or aerially on any apparatus. Using the aerial hammocks, a safe and supported approach to inverting is available for beginners while also challenging more advanced students to take the drills off the ground to build better grip, back and shoulder strength, shoulder mobility, and overall control and stamina. Students will work on body awareness, balance, flexibility, and control while inverted, with equal attention paid to controlled descents and soft landings.
